Tom's June Publicity

08/05/2016
Oxford Dictionaries now list 100 misspellings in common usage today. These do not include any of my misspellings that the computer spell checker stops me using: “chairity” – is this giving up your seat to someone who needs it more than you? “pilliterate” – a chemist who can’t read a doctor’s prescription? “neighbores” – a dull family next door? If so these “neighbores” are not members of the Fordingbridge Camera Club.

We are a friendly, go-ahead club and meet at Avonway Community Centre at 7.30pm on Wednesdays. Our website, www.fordingbridgecameraclub.org.uk has our programme for the season. It is a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers coupled with opportunities to show your work on the highest quality equipment and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges. The club programme shows the planned meeting days which are almost every Wednesday throughout our season. Visitors are welcome to attend any of the events listed in the programme for a small fee unless otherwise stated. Creative and Practical evenings are organised by members for members and therefore running and content may be changed at short notice. As a group they set themselves new challenges and then review the results collectively.

Our season finishes in June but even then we are busy until it re-starts in September. Why not come and see our stand at some of the summer’s country shows. We will be at many of them: Sandleheath 18th June, Fordingbridge Festival 16th July, Frogham Fair 30th July and Ellingham Show Saturday 13th August.

You can talk about photography, pick the brains of some of our experienced members and take a close look at our work. The thought of a long summer break was so boring that I started reading the Oxford Dictionary two weeks ago. Now I’m past caring.
