Tom's August Publicity

I have been busy this last month or so transferring data from my old computer on to my new laptop. As I struggle to understand how the new one works I suppose I was not the first to think – “Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.”

The holiday season is now in full swing and gives photographers time and opportunity to widen their range and to record the unfamiliar with a fresh eye. So, whether you are travelling to exotic places or enjoying the beauty of your local area, take your camera with you.
Local shows are ideal venues for interesting images. Fordingbridge Camera Club will have a stand at the Frogham Fair on Saturday 29th of July and at Ellingham Show on Saturday August 12th so why not call in and see us when you are there. You can see samples of our work and have the opportunity to tell us what you want from a camera club. You never know, we may already provide it. We meet at Avonway Community Centre at 7.30pm most Wednesdays of the season for a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers coupled with opportunities to show your work and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges. Visitors are always welcome for a small fee. In addition to our regular meetings we are devoting many evenings for those who want, as a group, to set themselves new challenges and then to review the results collectively. These additional sessions have proven to be very popular but are only open to club members. Our new programme for the coming season will soon be on our website, www.fordingbridgecameraclub.org.uk

Photography, with the advent of digitalisation, need not be an expensive hobby. Only Governments now talk in terms of, “A billion here, a billion there, you’ll soon be talking real money!” My wife’s motto as she heads for the shops is “Increased consumer demand is needed to boost industrial production!”- perhaps I should invest in a new camera when I can understand my new computer.
