Welcome
to Fordingbridge Camera Club. We
were formed 50 years ago by a group of enthusiasts, in
those early days there was a strong bias towards cine
and audio visual but that has now shifted to projected
image and print with a growing emphasis on digital work.
We are affiliated to the Stour and Avon Photographic Association
and to the Southern Photographic Federation where we compete
in the South Western League.
Our
meetings are held at 7.30 on alternate Wednesdays evenings
from September through to June at the Avonway Community
Centre Shaftesbury Street, Fordingbridge, SP6 1JF. We
have a good selection of presentations from visiting speakers
so please look at our programme for the
coming year and feel welcome to join us at any meeting
or contact the Membership Secretary. Our
recent acquisition of a digital projector and the associated
computer - thanks to a grant from "Awards for All"
- has enabled us to take a further step into the exciting
field of digital photography and this alternative form
of displaying images will now feature in our competitions
and presentations. Our "projected
image", which includes both slides and digital projection,
and our print competitions -both open and set-subject
-are open to all our members and the print competitions
are divided into Small Print ( 71/2
x 5 or less) and Large Print ( image larger than 71/2
x 5). We make no distinction between darkroom or digital
work; trade or home processed. In recognition of the needs
of our newer members we are expanding the competitions
for the 2008-9 season to two levels of competition, "General"
and "Advanced". Members may select the level
at which they feel comfortable and we will be introducing
a system for promotion to the Advanced Level. The work
of some of our recent Merit Winners can be seen in our
galleries pages.
An
innovation started in 2005 has been to include an extra
meeting most months, usually on the second
in-between Wednesday, known as the "Photo-Forum"
for an informal evening where we can include tutorials
and discussions on all aspects of imaging. It has seen
the growth of a lively interest in
Creative Photography. Addition tutorial meetings are also
arranged from time to time.
