Well Done
Fordingbridge!
At the Southern Photographic Federation's bi-annual
Print Championship on February 24 2008
we came 3rd in Round One which placed us among the top eight
clubs and eligible to compete
for the Championship. In the final round we again finished third
only beaten by the mighty
Chichester and Southampton Camera Clubs so we are feeling pretty
pleased with ourselves.
Something
for Everyone? A Successful Evening!
At a recent "Trouble-Shooting" evening
there really was something for everyone, prints
were analysed,
cameras examined, computer imaging techniques discussed and
our own monitor profiler was demonstrated.

At
the end of the Club year in June we were honoured by the
visit from Ian Bigg LRPS CPAGB who is the current President
of the Southern Photographic Federation. He had been invited
to present the awards for the year's achievements in the
Club competitions but also for a very special award of the
Southern Federation ROLL of HONOUR to Anne Mahany CPAGB
to recognise
her contribution to photogaphy in Fordingbridge Camera Club
where she has been on
the Committee almost continuously since joining in 1988
and within the Southern Federation Council where she has
been the PAGB Exhibition Secretary for 13 years and combined
the roles of President with Secretary for 2 years. |

Our
First Digital Projection Evening 2006
was a great success with
some 65 images entered to be judged by Jim Marsden FRPS EFIAP
at
short notice. It was pleasing to see some of our newest members
among the highest scorers. Our new projector, now profiled for
optimum colour accuracy, impressed our visitors from several
other clubs who had come to see our progress in this new medium
which shows all the signs of becoming popular for instruction,
lectures and competitions. These are early days and our competition
software is still being developed, but some quick thinking by
Geoff kept the show rolling. We are gaining experience to decide
just how we will integrate digital projection into the competition
programme for next year. The winning images can be seen on our
Gallery page for 2005-6.
Lottery
Win! December 2005
We
are delighted to announce that we have been successful in our
"Awards for All" application and
will be able to equip with a new digital projector and move
forward into a new era of photography.
Outstanding
Digital Day! November
2005
Once again our "Digital
Day" presentation at Sandy Balls Holiday Centre has been
well received largely thanks to this year's guest speaker Tony
Riley LIBPP who explained the secrets of Colour Management and
how to get the best from Raw Files. Nearly 100 guests from all
over the south and west enjoyed the day and they went home super-saturated
with knowledge.
Odds
and Ends
Did you know?
The International standard
for photographic mounts is 50cm x 40 cm and it is a smidgen
less than our usual 20 x 16 inches. The PAGB and Southern Photographic
Federation are requiring photographers to start using this metric
size from now on. While we have no size limit for our internal
competitions, entries for outside competitions will have to
comply.
Can
You see in Colour?
Yes, really see? A lot
of us, particularly men, have some degree of colour blindness
(Who said "especially judges"?). If you want to get
checked out discretely -
go to http://www.toledo-bend.com/colorblind/Ishihara.html
- you might be surprised!
