I wonder how many members first heard about our club from reading the publicity Tom creates for the local magazines.

Tom's May publicity for the club

The most beautiful words in the world have been described as – “Cheque Enclosed”. Equally beautiful words are – “It is not to late to go to the free Fordingbridge Camera Club exhibition which is taking place on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th of May 2018 at the Town Hall”. This is a feast of wonderful photography by club members as well as the opportunity to see good photographic work by local school children. You will have the opportunity to examine the work your friends and neighbours have produced. The work will be judged by a professional photographic judge and visitors will be invited to cast votes for their favourite image. Smart phones are here to stay; the exhibition will also compare some photographs taken of the same view by phone and camera so that you can compare their qualities. We are a friendly, go-ahead club and meet at Avonway Community Centre at 7.30pm on Wednesdays.

Our website, www.fordingbridgecameraclub.org.uk has our programme for the season. It is a mixture of talks by visiting top photographers coupled with opportunities to show your work on the highest quality equipment and have it commented on by experienced photographic judges. The club programme shows the planned meeting days which are almost every Wednesday throughout our season. Visitors are welcome to attend any of the events listed in the programme for a small fee. Creative and Practical evenings are organised by members for members and therefore running and content may be changed at short notice. As a group they set themselves new challenges and then review the results collectively. These additional sessions have proven to be very popular and have added strength to our work.

In closing, I was interested to read of Egyptologists and their latest find. I understand they found a mummy covered in chocolate and nuts – they believe it may be Pharaoh Rocher
